Southeast Georgia Health System Announces Provider Relocations and Specialty Care Expansion

Southeast Georgia Health System is proud to announce a series of strategic updates to its medical facilities and provider locations, aimed at enhancing access to comprehensive, patient-focused health services. These changes, which include the transformation of the St. Simons Immediate Care Center into a dedicated primary care office and the relocation of several key providers, underscore the Health System’s ongoing commitment to improving the delivery of health care across multiple specialties—including primary care, endocrinology and rheumatology.
Primary Care
Effective June 16, the St. Simons Immediate Care Center, located at 5000 Wellness Way will close. In its place, the facility will transition into a primary care office, continuing to meet the community’s health care needs with expanded services and a focus on continuity of care.
Margaret Carter, MD, a board-certified family medicine physician, will relocate her practice from 7000 Wellness Way to the newly designated primary care space at 5000 Wellness Way.
Joining Carter at Southeast Georgia Physician Associates-Primary Care will be James Snow, DO, formerly the physician at St. Simons Immediate Care Center. Snow will continue his role of treating walk-in patients at this new primary care location, helping to ensure a seamless transition for those who previously relied on immediate care services
Endocrinology & Diabetes
As part of this transition, Holly Temples, FNP-C, a board-certified family nurse practitioner who has been with the Health System since 2017, has moved from the Southeast Georgia Physician Associates (SGPA)-Primary Care practice with Carter to SGPA-Endocrinology & Diabetes, located at 3025 Shrine Road, Suite 150.
Rheumatology
Additionally, Southeast Georgia Health System is pleased to welcome back Erick Bournigal, MD, board-certified internal medicine physician, to SGPA-Rheumatology, now located in the former SGPA-Primary Care office at 7000 Wellness Way. Joining him in this location will be Melody Vasquez, MSN, FNP-C, a board-certified family nurse practitioner.
These changes reflect the Health System’s ongoing commitment to providing accessible, high-quality care across a wide range of specialties to the residents of St. Simons Island and surrounding communities.
