However, according to experts, persistent whizzing cough and painful bouts of coughing could be associated with a mindless diet.

In a recent Instagram post, nutritionist Nmami Agarwal shares valuable dietary tips to prevent persistent coughing during the hot and wet season.
Agarwal outlines the importance of steering clear of foods that are too hot or too cold. For example, if you are reaching out for refrigerated curd, make sure to let it come to room temperature before consuming. Similarly, in the case of piping-hot tea and coffee, these foods can irritate your throat and worsen your condition.
Anti-Inflammatory Foods To Prevent Persistent Coughing
In the video post, the nutritionist emphasises the importance of adding Omega-3 rich foods to your diet to reduce inflammation in the respiratory tract. Some items she recommends are a diary product, flax seeds, walnuts, fish oil, and salmon.
“Don’t eat or drink anything that has an extreme temperature. Like curd or anything from the fridge, or hot coffee and tea that is steaming and looks comforting. Extreme temperatures hurt our immunity and worsen coughs,” She stated. “Do- Add Omega fatty acids. High in antioxidants, fighting free radicals. Building our immunity, they do it all.”
