Call for papers – Telemedicine in endocrinology

Call for papers – Telemedicine in endocrinologyBMC Endocrine Disorders is calling for submissions to our Collection, Telemedicine in endocrinology.

The integration of telemedicine in endocrinology represents a transformative shift in the delivery of healthcare, particularly for patients with chronic endocrine disorders such as diabetes, thyroid diseases, and hormonal imbalances. By leveraging technology, healthcare providers can remotely monitor patient health, facilitate consultations, and streamline communication. This Collection aims to explore the innovative applications of telemedicine within endocrinology, evaluating its impact on patient outcomes, clinical efficiency, and overall healthcare delivery.

Advancements in telehealth technologies have improved patient access to care, especially for those residing in remote areas or facing mobility challenges. The use of remote patient monitoring (RPM) and continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) systems has demonstrated significant potential in managing diabetes care, enabling timely interventions and personalized treatment plans. Furthermore, the evolution of digital health platforms has paved the way for enhanced patient-provider communication, and a more equitable healthcare landscape.

As research in telemedicine continues to evolve, we anticipate that future advancements will lead to even more sophisticated tools for real-time health monitoring and patient engagement. The potential for artificial intelligence and machine learning to further personalize treatment plans and improve patient adherence is promising. This could lead to a paradigm shift in how endocrinology practices approach chronic disease management, ultimately enhancing patient quality of life and health outcomes.

Topics that are welcome include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Effectiveness of telemedicine in diabetes care, including self-management
  • Remote patient monitoring and healthcare equity
  • Continuous glucose monitoring in telehealth
  • Comparing telehealth interventions for patients with diabetes
  • Enhancing patient-provider communication through telemedicine

This Collection supports and amplifies research related to SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being.

All manuscripts submitted to this journal, including those submitted to collections and special issues, are assessed in line with our editorial policies and the journal’s peer review process.
