HSHS Medical Group Diabetes & Endocrinology – Comprehensive Diabetes Education Class

DATE: Tuesday, Oct. 1

TIME: 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

LOCATION: HSHS Medical Group Diabetes & Endocrinology Office –500 N. Maple St., Suite 200, Effingham.

This free class provides a better understanding of managing all types of diabetes. Topics include nutrition, monitoring, medications, healthy coping and reducing risks. Class participants receive individualized goals and a comprehensive diabetes management plan. A follow-up class will be scheduled after completion of this initial class. This three-part prenatal education program gives expectant parents a comprehensive journey through the process of birth and infant care. Classes are designed for mothers and their support partners. TIME: 6:30 p.m.

LOCATION: St. Anthony’s Auditorium – 503 N. Maple St., Effingham

Open to all expectant mothers, even if you have not yet decided whether to breastfeed your baby. Topics covered include maternal nutrition, breastfeeding techniques, early preparation for breastfeeding, and postpartum experiences. Offered free of charge. Register at stanthonyshospital.org/events.

HSHS St. Anthony’s Women’s Health Showcase

DATE: Thursday, Oct. 17

TIME: 4:30 to 9 p.m.

LOCATION: Keller Convention Center

Join this fabulous and festive affair, “Girls’ Night Out,” combined with health education. Tickets $10 per person or at a discount of $80 per table of 10. Parkinson’s Support Group

DATE: Wednesday, Oct. 30

TIME: 1-2:15 p.m.

LOCATION: Effingham Public Library Basement – 200 N. Third St., Effingham

Facilitated by HSHS St. Anthony’s physical therapist Jessica Mottashed, PT, DPT, this support group is for people diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and their caregivers. This is an opportunity to learn and share helpful information, support others in dealing with Parkinson’s disease-related issues and connect with others who can relate to your experience. Registration is not required.
